Travel Vaccinations

We offer a NHS Travel Advice and Immunisation Service for our registered patients. If you are travelling abroad, please complete and submit our TRAVEL RISK ASSESSMENT FORM in plenty of time (6-8 weeks before your journey). This ensures that any immunisations required have time to build an immune response in your body.

Which travel vaccines are available on the NHS?

The following travel vaccines are provided by the NHS:

  • Polio (given as a combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio jab)
  • Typhoid
  • Hepatitis A
  • Cholera

These vaccines are available on the NHS because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health, if circulating.

Which travel vaccines will I have to pay for?

Other Travel Vaccinations are available but are not carried out at the practice because they fall outside of the NHS provided vaccinations. There are a number of Travel Clinics available and there will be a fee attached to non-NHS provided vaccinations.

Some of these include:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Meningitis vaccines
  • Rabies
  • Tick-bourne Encephalitis
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Yellow fever – Only available from designated Travel Clinic centres.

Whilst we cannot recommend any particular private clinics, we have put together a helpful leaflet of nearby Private Travel Clinics for information, which you can pick up at Reception.

Childhood Immunisations

Our Practice Nurses carry out designated Childhood Immunisation clinics, twice per month. Eligible patients are invited for an appointment by Child Services through the post.

If you are unable to make your appointment, please telephone Child Health Services on 0300 1111 022. Child Services will invite you for another appointment.

General Vaccinations

We run a number of vaccination campaigns throughout the year for eligible cohorts of patients. Eligibility criteria is set by NHS England. Along with seasonal campaigns like Flu, we also run Covid, Pneumonia, Shingles and many more vaccination clinics.

If you are eligible for any vaccination campaigns, please be assured we will contact you when it is your time to book in with us. Our clinic availability is based on eligibility, cohort prioritisation and vaccine supply.

You will contacted by reception at the appropriate time.
